Ike
is a very powerful athlete. He weighs 65 lbs., and stands 24" at the
shoulder. Ike was very easy to train. Ike has an intense desire to find and
point birds. He likes to stay with me and point birds for me. Ike is a very
smart and personable dog. He is a great pet and companion as well as a very
classy dog. I won the 1995 North Dakota Pheasant Championship with Ike as a two
year old. Ike has the best nose of any dog I have ever worked with.
Ike has a very straight 12 o'clock tail. He has plenty of strength and stamina
to put in a hard day in the field.
Ike has been siring classy pups that love to point.
Ike's father, a five time Shooting Dog Champion, Fair Play was the 1992
United States Top Shooting Dog of the Year.
Ike's mother, Salina, is a full sister to Destinare. Destinare
was the 1994 Top Shooting Dog of the Year. Destinare made field trial
history in 1994 in several ways. First of all, he made history by accumulating
4,475 points during the season. That is the most points since the Top Shooting
Dog award was initiated, and nearly three times as many points as the second
place dog, the English pointer, Sumter's Hacienda Bull, which scored 1,550
points.
Destinare closed out his winning season by doing something which had
never been done before. He won three consecutive major championships: The
Egyptian Shooting Dog Championship (114 entries); The Illinois Shooting Dog
Championship (140 entries, the largest entry in field trial history); and the
Michigan Shooting Dog Championship (79 entries).
Both Fair Play and Salina were sired by seven time Shooting
Dog Champion, The Performer. To date, The Performer has sired
nine champions, including the 1993 Grand National Grouse Champion, Crystal
Light. He also sired National Shoot to Retrieve Champion, Trendsetter's
Sophie, out of our female Havelock Blue Tomoka.
Ch. The Perfomer was inducted into the Field Trial Hall of Fame in
1995, the first English Setter so honored since Ch. Tomoka was
installed in 1985. Ch. The Perfomer and Ch. Tomoka were owned
by Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Smith and trained and handled by Mr. Harold Ray.
